William Allen

William Huston Allen, 77, Excelsior Springs, Mo., passed away January 27, 2016.

William was born Sept. 12, 1938, to Earl and Thelma Allen in Kansas City, Mo. He was a lifelong resident of Excelsior Springs, Mo. He was a 1956 graduate of Excelsior Springs High School. Bill served as a reservist in the Army National Guard Medical Corps. Bill was a car salesman for many years, being top salesman for several years at Chuck Anderson Ford. He was an active member of Pisgah Baptist Church, where he was a choir member and a Sunday school teacher. Bill was a talented woodworker and remodeler. He enjoyed buying houses and fixing them up. He was also a talented artist. William loved his family and was always there to lend a hand.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He leaves his wife, Ethel; children, Mark and wife Anna Sue Spohn, Sharon Honeyman, Dionne, Christie and husband Kevin Vorterstrasse; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many friends, family, and brothers and sisters in Christ.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Pisgah Baptist Church, with memorial service immediately following. Arrangements are through Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, 816-630-3131.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the church.
