Sharon L. Dixon “Cheri” (nee Scott) died peacefully on Thursday, March 17, 2016 in Lee’s Summit Mo., at the age of 71. Cheri is survived by her husband, Tom; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Beth Tracy of Lenexa, Kans.; stepdaughters, Kathleen Keller of Hutchinson, Kans., and Cheryl Theis of Medicine Lodge, Kans.; stepsons, Jacob Dixon of Olathe, Kans., and Mathew Dixon of Blue Springs, Mo.; sister, Linda Scott (Vicki Rogers) of Kansas City, Mo., sister Patricia Jo (Scott) Grant (Dan Grant) of Oakhurst, Ca., and brother, Russell Scott (Michael Sprager) of Portland, Or.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judith and Richard Manka of Leawood, Kans. and 11 grandchildren.

Cheri is preceded in death by her mother and father, Addison and Adele (DeLany) Scott of Kansas City, Mo. Cheri was born on March 3, 1945 in Kansas City, Mo., at St. Luke’s Plaza Hospital to Addison and Adele Scott. Cheri graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School in 1962. Cheri married Tom aboard their boat “The Southern Cross” at the Lake of the Ozarks on May 26, 1990.

Cheri was a flight attendant for Braniff Airlines and studied as an X-ray technician. Cheri began working for Ray Lindsey Co. as an administrative assistant in 1991 and retired in December 2014. Cheri’s children remember her as a kind, gentle and patient mother who encouraged them to pursue their dreams and goals. Cheri was accomplished at interior decorating and often received compliments on her choice of colors and design. Cheri was a generous, loving and thoughtful individual who loved her puppies and who was passionate about animal rights. Cheri enjoyed attending the contemporary service at The Summit Church in Lee’s Summit followed by breakfast at Waffle House.

A memorial service and celebration of life is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 2 at The Summit Church, First United Methodist Church, 114 SE Douglas, Lee’s Summit, Mo., 64063. Reception will follow at The Summit Church with Pastor Jim Preisig officiating the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Cheri’s life.
