Sherry Lee Schoolfield, 73, of Excelsior Springs, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Sherry was born in Kansas City, Mo, on December 30, 1942 to Robert and Beatrice (Karch) Albers. Sherry was united in marriage to Ronald K. Schoolfield in 1962. She was a graduate of Kearney High School and lived in the Kearney/Excelsior Springs area all of her life.
Sherry worked as a deputy collector in the Clay County Collectors office for 33 years before her retirement in 2002. She was a devout member of the Woodland Baptist Church near Excelsior Springs.
Sherry loved to sing, especially old country music. She was a dedicated and devout Christian. Some of her favorite pastimes included quilting, crafts, shopping, camping and fishing. She also loved her flowers and gardening. Sherry also very much loved dogs. Most of all, she was a great wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all.
Preceding her in death were her parents and a son, Brian Schoolfield, who died in 2002.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 54 years, Ronald K. Schoolfield of the home. A son, Terry Schoolfield of Excelsior Springs, a daughter and son-in-law, Tracy Thompson and husband Bryan, also of Excelsior Springs. Granddaughters, Samantha Schoolfield, Tayler Adkins and Sadie Adkins and a grandson, Nicholas Thompson, all of Excelsior Springs.
Flowers are welcome. For those that desire, memorials may be given to the Woodland Baptist Church in her memory.
Visitation was held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2016 at the Woodland Baptist Church with funeral services following at the church with Rev. Russell Hyatt officiating.
Burial was in Bethel Cemetery northwest of Excelsior Springs.
