Janice Marilyn St. John

Marilyn was born March 9, 1927, to Dutch and Bertha (Mullin) McKown in Lawson, Missouri. She graduated from Lawson High School. She married James St. John in 1945 and moved to Excelsior Springs. They were married for 42 years until his death in 1987.

She worked at the McCleary Clinic, as a homemaker, and at Clark’s Market. She was a member of Old Union Christian Union Church, and in recent years attended Flack Memorial Christian Church. Marilyn most enjoyed spending time with her family, be it on a camping trip or at dinner.

She is survived by her sons, James “Reggie” St. John (Kathy) and Scott St. John (Debbie), both of Excelsior Springs; grandchildren Jason and Jeffrey St. John of Excelsior Springs and Sarah Boyd (Keith) of Kansas City, Mo.; and great-grandchildren Atticus St. John and Spencer Boyd.

In addition to her husband, Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Beatrice Walker and Olive Adams.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, 217 W. Broadway, Excelsior Springs, Mo. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. at Bross & Spidle. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Excelsior Springs.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Marilyn’s name to Three Rivers Hospice, 700 Branch St., Suite 4, Platte City, MO 64079.
