Alta Mae Roney, 89, of Richmond, Mo. died Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Alta was born on April 6, 1927 in Vibbard, Mo. to Burnice and Dicy (Gabbert) Norris. She married Jerry Roney of Richmond on November 5, 1945. He preceded her in death on August 13, 2001.
Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law; Berkley and Martha Roney of Excelsior Springs, Mo., Eddie Dean and Vicki Roney of Henderson, Nev., Patrick L. and Debi Roney of Lawson, Mo. and Shawn Roney of Richmond; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Shirley Clevenger of Excelsior Springs and Glenda and Kenneth Neff of Blue Springs, Mo.; five grandchildren, Hillary Roney, Amber Driggs and her husband, Travis, Chris Roney and his wife, Michele, Kevin Roney and his wife, Becky and Kyle Roney; and eight great-grandchilden, Alyssa Roney, Mason Larson, Patrick Roney, Hillary Roney, Bradley Roney, Maddison Roney, Jaiden DeFries and Austin DeFries.
In addition to her parents and husband, Alta was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Norris and Kenny Wayne Norris.
Alta was a homemaker. She also worked at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond as a Med Tech for five years. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Richmond where she was also a Sunday School Teacher. Alta liked quilting and loved to bake. She lived in Ray County most of her life.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Missionett’s at the Assembly of God Church in Richmond.
Funeral services were held on Friday, May 20 at 11 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Richmond. Visitation was held Friday, May 20 from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery. Online condolences maybe left at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
