Gerald M. Golliglee was born September 9, 1928 in Kansas City, Kansas to Lawrence and Alma Golliglee. Gerald passed away July 9, 2016 in Liberty, Missouri.
He received his high school diploma in Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey, while in the service of the Army Air Corp. He served in the Army Air Corps (U.S. Air Force), and received the Army of Occupation Medal and the Berlin Airlift Device. He served as a radar technician during the Airlift. He married Marilyn R. Minturn on March 31, 1956 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was employed with World Insurance Company for 38 years, retiring as a Vice President of Planning. In his “retirement,” he was an Emergency Medical Technician instructor with Metropolitan Community College, as well as being a CPR Instructor Trainer with the American Heart Association training hundreds of EMT students, and many more in CPR and first responders. He served on the Papillion Fire Department for five years, was one of the Papillion Fire Department’s first paramedics, and served as treasurer and Rescue Captain during his tenure. He was a Boy Scout Leader With the Mid America Boy Scout Council for 17 years, chartering Troop 470 in LaVista, Nebraska in 1960. He earned the Scouter’s Award, the Scouter’s Key, he was a member of the Order of the Arrow -Brotherhood, through the Kit-Ke-Hak-O-Kut Lodge.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Marilyn, his parents Lawrence and Alma, and his sister Pat Halterman.
He is survived by his sons and their wives, Kevin and Sandra Golliglee of Sachse, Texas, and Tim and Lanna Golliglee of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, his sister Bette McDaniel of Boubon, Indiana, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held Thursday, July 14 at the Kahler Dolce Mortuary in Papillion, Nebraska. Interment was held in Papillion at the Cedar Dale Cemetery.
