Jody Scott Wisecup
November 1, 1958 – December 7, 2017

Jody Scott Wisecup, 59, Kearney, Mo. passed away suddenly on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017.

Jody was born on Nov. 1, 1958 to Eddie J. and Beverly F. Wisecup. Jody grew up in Kearney and still lived there with his family.

Jody had an incredible work ethic, and spent his career in the information technology field working for Bill McCullough & Associates in Excelsior Springs, DeLong Sportswear in Grinnell, Ia., Butler Manufacturing, and the last 14 years with HNTB Architecture in Kansas City, Mo. However, most important to him was his family and cherished friends who will all miss him dearly.

Jody had a great love of music and was a talented musician, leaving high school early to join Mike O’Roark and the Freeborn Men, a well-known Kansas City area bluegrass band. Jody was an avid fisherman and golfer.

Jody played varsity basketball and held the Kearney High School pole vault record for a time. He studied at Missouri of University-Columbia, University of Central Missouri, where he was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity, DeVry University, graduating with his bachelor’s degree from William Jewell College.

Jody is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jewel Arlene (Dagley); daughter Jessica Cantrell and her husband Tony; grandchildren Madison Scott and Atticus; sister Rita Kelly and her husband Tom.

He is predeceased by his parents and his brother Jeff. He never did anything halfway, and we find comfort in knowing he is now reunited in Heaven with them.

Services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 14 at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, 208 S. Jefferson, Kearney, MO., 64060. Family and friends may visit from 5-7 p.m., with the service following. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
