Cecil D. Gaines, 76, passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015.
He was born Cecil Dewayne Gaines on Feb. 27, 1939, in North Kansas City, Mo., the son of Walter Roscoe Gaines and Helen O’Dell Gaines. Cecil graduated from the University of Missouri, where he was president of his fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon. He was a top salesman for L.D. Brinkman Floor Covering Co. for over 35 years and active in his own real estate interests.
Photography was a passion of Cal’s – he loved taking pictures of his family and friends and Fort Worth Christian sporting events. He was a proud fan of the Missouri Tigers and the Dallas Cowboys. Cecil was a loved member of The Hills Church.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary Gaines; son, Chris Gaines and wife, Jennifer; daughter, Liz Mitchell and husband, Nelson; grandchildren, Jessica Gaines, Jamie Whitmire and husband, Evan, Jake Mitchell, Miles Mitchell and Luke Mitchell; sister, Carol Callaway and husband, Bob; sister, Dianna Smith and husband, John; numerous other relatives; and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at The Hills Church, 6300 N.E. Loop 820, North Richland Hills, Texas. Private interment took place at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas. Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville, Texas.
