Ernest Ralph O’Dell

Ralph O’Dell, 82, of Elkhorn, Missouri, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza.
Ralph was born April 15, 1936 in Elkhorn to Ernest and Jeanette (Christensen) O’Dell. Ralph married Darlene Elliott on Oct. 12, 1957.
Ralph worked in the plastic industry for 63 years, starting at Avsco Plastics when he was 19 years old, and owning and operating O’Dell Plastics right up until the accident. He loved the relationships he made over the course of his career, and he relished the “always on the go” nature of the business. Ralph couldn’t sit still!
Ralph was known for his words of wisdom, his one liners and his witty commentary. He loved food, sports, farming and his family!
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his son, Dennis, along with several brothers and sisters-in-law.
Survivors include a wife of 61 years, Darlene (Elliott); two daughters and sons-in-law: Kandi and Larry Harrison of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, and Suzanne and Kevin McCanles of Overland Park, Kansas; four grandchildren: Carrie Mick, Derek (Shelby) Harrison, Brady McCanles and Brooke McCanles; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 10-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27th at North New Garden Primitive Baptist Church, on O Highway in Excelsior Springs, with funeral services immediately following at 11:30 a.m. Burial followed at the O’Dell Cemetery.
