Charles “Charlie” Edward Coleman Jr
November 24, 1942—October 29, 2018
Charlie Coleman died at Liberty Hospital after a long illness on Monday, Oct. 29, 2018, at the age of 75.
Charlie was born in Newport, Arkansas, on Nov. 24, 1942 to Cecile Eileen (Winters) Coleman and Charles Edward Coleman Sr. He was the only boy of five children. He attended Excelsior Springs High School and was married to Linda (Summers) Evans from 1963 to 1970.
Charlie was a student at auto body school in Kansas City where he acquired the skills that helped him to become a talented and well-known auto body man in the area. He worked in the body shop at Spring Motors in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, his own shop across from the “Hitch Lot,” for Bob Cave Body Shop, Recon and was also employed as an auto insurance adjuster.
Charlie had a love for life, many friends and a great sense of humor. He will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia Coleman.
Charlie is survived by his daughters: Cathy Peoples of Knoxville, Missouri, and Melanie Johnson, of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren: Mason Harris of Liberty, Missouri, and Cloey Denny, of Kansas City, Missouri; sisters: Linda Towers of Venice, Florida, Sarah “Cookie” Nelson of Aberdeen, Washington and Dorothy Gage of D’Alene, Idaho.
The family would like to thank the wonderful, caring staff in ICU and Palliative Care at Liberty Hospital for their kindness and exceptional care.
