Wilma Hardwick, 89, a resident of Shirkey’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in  Richmond, Mo., passed away Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, at NorthCare Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo.

Wilma was originally from the Excelsior Springs/Richmond area, but had lived in Branson, Mo., many years before failing health prompted her to return home.  During her years in Branson, Wilma enjoyed working at Ozarkland Stores, where she loved hearing and telling stories with all the customers and her coworkers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William J. and Helen Seely; husband, Gilbert (Gib) Hardwick; two sisters, Ruby Holman and Flora Phillips; and two brothers, William C. and Danny Seely.

She leaves behind a son, Earl (Gene) Smith of Richmond, Mo.; two daughters, Janet Pool of Kansas City, Mo., and Connie Smotherman of Winfield, Mo.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Wilma was a loving lady with an entertaining quick wit who was always ready to help when needed. She was known to all as simply “Mom” and will be missed by all who knew her.

To carry out her final wishes, family will receive friends at the United Christian Presbyterian Church in Richmond on Wednesday, Jan. 13, from 5 to 6 p.m., with light refreshments in the Fellowship Hall following.  Then on Thursday, Jan. 14, there will be a graveside service at 3 p.m. at the Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.

Rest in peace dear mother, grandmother and friend.  It’s all over now and you are celebrating with your loved ones who have gone before you. We will miss you dearly, but we will be okay and will see you again one day.
