Wayne C. Quimby
June 12, 1948 – December 15, 2017
Wayne Cole Quimby, 69, of Cameron, Mo., went to be with the Lord on December 15, 2017. Wayne was born on June 12, 1948 in Windsor, Vermont, to Thurland Eugene and Dorothy Anna (Bill) Quimby.
He was a father, grandfather and great-grandfather and a husband to Betty for 9 years.
Wayne loved life to the fullest and always had a heart to help those around him by being a volunteer at Broadway Bargains in Excelsior Springs and being part of the Honor Guard at funeral services for veterans. He was in the army and loved to serve in anyway possible.
Wayne and Betty lived in an RV and traveled all over. Being a host at campgrounds for many years, this gave him the opportunity to be outdoors and fish which he loved to do. He loved to tinker on cars and was handy around the house. He was a “jack of all trades” as he would tell us.
To describe Wayne, would take more than two words, but, if we could choose two, it would be feisty but a softy at heart. He adopted his two daughters when he met his second wife, Maria. He was so proud of all his grandchildren. We will miss him greatly and miss his sense of humor and his zest for life. We honor him for his service to country.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maria, and brother, Terry Quimby.
Survivors include companion, Betty Hall, of the home; 2 daughters, Eva (Tim) Barton, Richmond, Mo., and Sandra (Tomas) Cervantes, Liberty, Mo.; stepdaughter, Cristine (Randy) Hammond, Kansas City, Mo.; brother, Roy Quimby; 2 sisters, Katherine Garrett and Carol Beckworth; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Dec. 22, 2017 at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron, Mo. Online condolences can be left for the family online at: polandthompson.com.
