After living a long goodbye, Sue Moore Butler, 82, has died into the loving welcome of Christ Jesus and knowing the shalom of God.
Born Garland Sue Moore, the third child of Noble R. Moore and Georgia (Goodbar) Moore, Sue made Excelsior Springs, Missouri her life-long home. Sue was a member of the class of 1954 and attended university in Warrensburg, Missouri. She retired from a fulfilling career at AT&T where she found mentors, peers and friends for almost 40 years. Sue was extensively involved with her sorority Beta Sigma Phi and loved to join in a game of bridge. She was baptized and spent her life of faith in membership at Barbee Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Preceding Sue in death is her husband, Robert Dean Butler, parents and sister Camilla Moore.
Sue is survived by her brother, Dean N. Moore (Jean) of Guthrie, Kentucky. She is survived by her son, Sean R. Butler (Paula George), of St. Louis, Missouri, with grandchildren Sophia, Anna and Helen Butler; and by her son, Kevin R. Butler (Michelle) of Charlotte, North Carolina, with grandchildren Sean M. Butler and Bethany (Charles) Kelleher, and great-grandchildren Aidan and Caylin.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Sue’s life will be held on Saturday, September 1 at The Elms Hotel. We will gather in the Carriage House from 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. for a time of prayer and sharing memories, followed by an hors d’oeuvre reception. An internment service at Crown Hill Cemetery will conclude the celebration.
